Game Skill Builder assessment
Serious gaming is becoming a popular method for education, training, and recruitment. Candidates develop job-related skills by playing video games designed for this purpose. For example, Microsoft Flight Simulator helps aspiring pilots learn to fly safely. While these games are effective for skill training, they are not the ones gamers usually play for fun. To bridge this gap, iamprogrez introduces the Game Skill Builder. This innovative tool analyzes your skills based on games you enjoy, from Tetris to FIFA, and shows how you can apply these skills professionally.
Why is the Game Skill Builder important for your organization?
When people game, they are driven by intrinsic motivation, offering valuable insight into their interests and strengths. The choices gamers make reveal their preferences, strengths, and interests.
For example, someone who enjoys strategy games has a knack for planning and tactical thinking, while a fan of shooting games thrives in competitive settings requiring quick decisions and adaptability. Understanding these motivations helps organizations place candidates and employees in roles where they can excel.
What measures the Game Skill Builder?
The Game Skill Builder is capable of highlighting two different aspects of a candidate: the person (game profile) and the method of action (play style).
1. Game profile
The aspect of the person originates from theories focused on measuring personality. Think of assessments like the Big Five or HEXACO (link to our assessment). Based on these theories, we have created a model that measures six different facets of a person. After completing the game skill assessment, the candidate receives a chart describing the skills that stood out the most.
2. Play style
The aspect of the method of action originates from theories focused on measuring team roles. This includes models like Belbin’s Team Roles (link to our assessment) and the DISC colors. Inspired by Meredith Belbin’s team roles, iamprogrez has developed a similar model that measures 10 different play styles by collecting game data. These play styles emerge in the context of video games and are directly applicable in a work context.
A unique assessment with personal profiles
Our comprehensive measurement creates a unique profile for each participant. This profile is formed by the measured skills and corresponding preferred behaviors. We do not offer standard levels, but indicate whether your score is high, average or low relative to the norm. This will give you a clear overview of your strengths and areas of development.
Within all of our assessments, we use gamification elements.

These abilities are directly transferable to professional aviation, demonstrating how gaming can effectively bridge the gap between virtual experiences and real-world applications.
